This smart watch is waterproof, has a GPS, shows texts & calls ... but that is just the start. My Garmin Forerunner is the best watch ever! Not only does it track my vitals and fitness, shows me text messages, social media notifications and remind me to move after a few too many episodes of Greys, there is still more I'm discovering is on this thing! Plus, it comes in many colors and styles. Connects via bluetooth on your device.
NURSE MATES. Cannot go wrong with shoes. Most nursing programs have a uniform policy of all white, leather shoes. They can be hard to find, but I found the the holy grail. Nurse Mates Align are the best shoes ever. Very strong, thick, supportive sole! These feel like you are wearing sneakers but have more support. They are not lace up, which I like because you don't have to worry about tying them or tripping over laces. These fit snuggly but give you enough movement that you're feet don't feel suffocated. 100% recommend these for nurses everywhere. They do come in other colors as well.
Good sneakers are so important for nursing students and nurses who are constantly on their feet. I prefer Nike sneakers! These are the Nike Flex Trainer 6. This styler has a very sturdy sole but is lightweight! Nike is also more affordable then some other brands, so you cannot beat that.
ScrubCheats Clinical Cheats Sheets is even more information than I thought would be in here. I found these on amazon and decided these cards might be nice to carry around. UHHH...These are like carrying all my text books (only the important info we really want to know) around conveniently on notecards. Covering topics such as heart rhythms, invasive lines, IV therapy, medical Spanish, common ICU drips and a ton more. Not only is this a great tool to keep in your bag, but these cheat sheets as great for studying or brushing up on some knowledge.
Pen lights are a must have in school and on the floor. These little tools are used for basic head to toe assessments all the way to trauma and ICU. This duo pack is great because the colors are so pretty...plus having a back up is nice. Includes 4 batteries (2 for each light) and replacements for the rubber tips.
Supplies! Practical gifts are the best gifts in my opinion and you can never have too many notebooks, pens, highlighters, stickey notes, etc.
These two items are particularly my favorite.
Syringe highlighters are just awesome. The notebook says
"God grant me the strength to get my care plans done, to make it through clinical and to keep from crying until graduation." #RELATABLE
LAST BUT NOT LEAST....bath bombs. Stress and being overwhelmed comes with the territory of nursing school and being a nurse. Sometimes, we just need a minute to breath. Whether it be for 2 seconds while getting supplies or on your day off relaxing in the bath. It is necessary to decompress or this career will drain you. Aromatherapy bath bombs can create a new environment of rejuvenation!
